Hanamochi
(Lit. Flower rice cake)
‰Ô–Ý
Hanamochi is a special New Year decoration originally created by the people
who lived in the snowy region
where there was no fresh flower in winter.(There are several stories about
the origin of Hanamochi" aside from this)
Twist and stick white and pink/red rice cake around willow branches or
maple branches, etc.
On the Kagamibiraki day, some people remove rice cake from branches, and
fry them to make "arare"rice crackers.
