(Small shrine)

Hokora is a small shrine. and is usually taken care by local inhabitant.
You can find it on the off-street, mountain road, in a precinct yard, etc.

An image of Jizo (Ksitigarbha) is a guardian deity of children and travelers.
So, there are many hokora which enshrine Jizo on the streets.

Minor deities are often enshrined in hokora.
