Shikizakura
Obara, Toyota C.
The Shiki of shikizakura means four seasons, and zakura is the same with
sakura, cherry blossoms/cherry tree.
Shiki-zakura blooms twice a year.
It starts to bloom from Mid-March in spring and and from late October in
autumn.
It's better to see in autumn because trees have only small number of flower
in spring.
There are more than 8,500 shiki-zakura trees in Obara village.
There is also a over 100-year old shiki-zakura tree which designated as
a natural treasure of Aichi Prefecture
in Maebora-cho, Toyota C.
The combination of white sakura and red autumn color is beautiful. | |
