Euphonic change of unvoiced to voiced sound on the first consonant of
the non-initial mora of a compound
(It's happens very often in Japanese, but not always)



Yama (mountain) + Sakura => Yama-zakura

Yotsuya (name of the place) + Tôri (street 通り)=> Yotsuya-Dôri
Umi (sea) + Tori (bird　鳥) => Umi-Dori

Gojo (Name of the place) + Hashi (bridge 橋) => Gojo-bashi

Kawa (River) + Sakana (fish) => Kawa-zakana
