Gagaku/雅楽
Gagaku is considerded one of Japan's five major traditional forms of performing
art, along with
Noh, Kyogen, Bunraku and Kabuki
Gagaku is one of the oldest form of Japanese music which came into existence
in the Heian Period and
retains its role as court music even today.
There are some instrumental pieces, but most of them are accompaniment
for dances.
