People are waiting for mochi (rice cake) shower.Supporters of this shrine or people who donate some money can throw mochi from the higher place. *** This pic was taken at Shiroyama Hachimangu Shrine near Motoyama on Dec.15. Each people on the stage could throw 50 rice cakes with 8,000 yen donation.(2004) |
The combination of red mochi and white mochi is an auspicious symbol. I got both color of mochi ! I am sorry I concentrated my attention too much on getting mochi, and forgot to take photos of the climax of the mochi shower.....sigh |
