All foreign residents in Japan who have an alien resistration card
and are between the age of 20 and 59
are required to join the National Pension System.
When you apply for an alien resistration card, you should apply
for the national pension system at the same time.
If you have difficulty in paying your premiums, consult a clerk
at the national pension counter in the ward office where you live.
If your status is not a regular student ( ex. 6 months course, one year
course or NUPACE students in Nagoya Univ.) and get no income, you can apply
for the system to exempt from the obligation to pay premiums.
You can apply or cancel for the national pension at the national pension
counter
at your local ward office.

There is a system to exempt students from the obligation to pay premiums
till they graduate from school
To apply for this system, you have to show your student ID.
If you are an ordinary employee of a company in Japan,
you are supposed to become the member
of national pension insurance system automatically.,
You can apply or cancel for the national pension at the national pension
counter
at your local ward office.

When you have completed your application for the national pension system
you will recieve a pension handbook..
It is a very important document and you should keep it safe.
If your address has changed or your employment status changes,
you have to inform the office of the change. |

No. 2
The office is in front of the bridge over Hirokoji-dori street
When you take exit No. 1, turn to the left.
You will reach Hirokoji-dori street in 1 minute.
Cross the street, turn to the left, and the Ward Office is
in front of the bus stop and a bridge.
